Embroidery: Are designed for machine embroidery using rayon, cotton or polyester embroidery thread.
 
Ball Point: Are specially designed for knit fabrics, jerseys and interlocks. The rounded tip separates the fibres to prevent laddering or running
 
Hemstitch: Are also know as Wing needles. The fins on both sides of the shaft of this needle help create the wider aperture sought after by scrapbook and heirloom stitchers
 
Leather: Feature a chisel point (designed to cut as it penetrates) for sewing leather and suedes. Never use for sewing textiles or artificial leathers.
 
Metafil: Are specially designed for metallic and other embroidery threads. These needles have an enlarged polished eye which is also an aid to a those with restricted vision. Metalfil needles are a high performance needle.
 
Quilting: Use a specially designed point and scarf to minimise any damage to the fabric and prevent skipped stitches when sewing through quilts. For patchwork or piercing we recommend the sharp needles.
 
Sharps: Have a fine sharp point for stitching tightly woven fabric such as micro fibre and other synthetics. The sharp needle gives a perfect straight stitch, ideal for top stitching.
 
Stretch: Are specially designed for two-way stretch knits, lycra, power net, silk jersey and other highly elasticated synthetic fabrics. 
 
Jeans: Ideally suited for denim fabrics, heavy twill, workwear and densely woven fabrics such as canvas and heavy linens. With a very sharp point and a stiffer shank to resist deflection to sew a straight stitch on thicker fabric.
 
Top Stitch: The extra sharp point allows the needle to penetrate easily through medium to heavy fabrics.
 
Twin Ball Point: Are designed for practical and decorative sewing such as pin tucking, seam finishes, top stitching etc. Ballpoint needles are for sewing knitted fabrics, especially cotton knits. Should be used at a reduced speed.
 
Twin Jeans: Twin needles are designed for practical and decorative sewing such as pin tucking, seam finishes, top stitching etc. Should be used at a reduced speed.
 
Twin Universal: needles are designed for practical and decorative sewing such as pin tucking, seam finishes, top stitching etc. Universal needles are for sewing on normal fabrics. Use at reduced speed.
